Northern Territory: There is no world famous opera house to be found here. The capital city of Darwin, while home to the majority of the Northern Territory's residents, might still be considered small and rustic when compared to Sydney or Brisbane. If you make it far enough into the rough, wild outback you certainly don't want to miss seeing Ayer's Rock, known as Uluru to Australia's native peoples. This lone survivor of thousands of years of erosion provides a certain surreal vista, rising abruptly as it does from the surrounding flatlands.

Most of the important areas in South Australia are crowded into the strips of arable land that line the coasts and rivers of this state. The harsh interior is better suited for mining than settlement: the world's largest Uranium deposit at Olympic Dam holds an estimated forty percent of known reserves. The manufacturing industry is important in South Australia, as is agriculture where possible. The fertile portions of South Australia like the Barossa valley produce more than half of Australia's wine output, mostly reds. While there stay in Barossa Valley Hotels.

New South Wales is located in the southeastern portion of Australia, between Queensland and Victoria. The Great Dividing Range provides one of the continent's only areas for alpine activities like skiing; even so, in a subtropical region like this the season is rather short. A bigger attraction in New South Wales is the Pacific coastline, which has some of Australia's most popular beaches and a very agreeable climate. A popular destination is the rapidly growing city of Coff's Harbour, near the border with Queensland.

Western Australia is pretty far removed from the bustling cities and tourist resorts of the eastern states. For the eco-tourist, however, it is an attractive destination indeed. This area is one of the world's richest in terms of biodiversity. The tropical Kimberly region in the north and the southwestern agricultural area contain most of the state's residents, both human and wild. The climate of the southwestern peninsula, with its lack of extreme temperatures, has caused the Margaret River area to become an esteemed wine region. While there stay in Margaret River Hotels.

Seagoing vacationers and sun worshipers are sure to find Queensland agreeable. Located in the northwest corner of Australia, Queensland has a warm and sunny tropical climate. Be forewarned, though: in the north, you can expect a lot of rain from January to March. Queensland is where you'll find the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, and the Great Barrier Reef. Since the 1980s tourism has been booming in Port Douglas, a city near the Great Barrier Reef that has become quite a popular destination.
